Trash the Dress, Cherish the Dress, Fearless Bridal or Rock the Frock. Whatever you call it, each has the same purpose, a chance to don your wedding dress again and bring out the fashion model in you!

Originating from our friends across the pond, Trash the Dress is a new trend popular with UK brides wanting a fun opportunity to ‘let go’ of the wedding and deal with the anticlimax of the planning and honeymoon being over. A goodbye if you like, and an alternative to sending the dress to Coventry to the depths of the dusty loft!

Trash the Dress is a style of wedding photography that is shot in an environment unbefitting to the elegance of the dress; a beach, park, car park, city street, rooftop, wasteland or abandoned buildings.

A few months ago, I contacted Zoe Richards of Zoe Photography to research a piece I was writing for the blog on ‘Trash the Dress’. Zoe, who already offers a similar Gown Again service, suggested doing a shoot together, and assured me it would not actually be trashing the most expensive purchase of my life!

Along with fellow model Kim Moss who was married in Las Vegas in April 2008, we decided to contrast the two looks of Trash and Cherish. So Coco Rouge did our hair and makeup, with Kim representing the Trash element with dishevelled hair and my look being more formal, representing Cherish! We set out early one Sunday morning into the back alleyways of Liverpool city centre and got creative with danger zones and discarded dirty tyres! It certainly was a glamorous and fun experience!
